George Washington, Namesake of our Round Table

McB May 2020

Here are some websites that are consistent with our focus on the American Revolution:

Journal of the American Revolution, https://allthingsliberty.com/. This is the dominant website now covering the Revolutionary War. It is now owned by Westholme and its editor-in-chief is Don N. Hagist (we grew up about six miles from each other in Rhode Island). You can also sign up for an email alert when the week’s articles are issued.

Boston 1775, by J. L. Bell. John spoke at one of our meetings several years ago. The best way to read his work is to sign up for his daily email alert. You can do that at his website, as well as review many of his past articles at his website: http://boston1775.blogspot.com/

The Colonial Review, by Breck Baumann. I came across this website after I learned it had done a nice review of my George Washington’s Nemesis book. It has book reviews on books related to American history from the colonial period to the War of 1812, both nonfiction and fiction. Here is the link: https://colonialreview.com/

In addition, as you know, many small businesses are being crushed by the health and economic crisis we are now experiencing. Please consider supporting small publishers of Revolutionary War books, such as Westholme, Savas Beatie, and History Press, by purchasing their books. They need your support at this most difficult time for them. I am aware that the Journal of the American Revolution’s annual book for 2020 is now out, and that a short history of the battles of Connecticut Farms and Springfield in New Jersey by the terrific military writer Edward Lengel should be available soon from Westholme. Savas Beatie publishes the “Emerging Revolutionary War” book series, with our own Rob Orrison as an author.

Let’s all be heroes and practice social distancing and beat this thing!

Best, Christian
